Fire Tower Collection
Helena's Fire Tower is twenty-five feet tall and was built in 1876. In 1886, the octagonal cab was added. If a fire was spotted, the alarm was sounded to let the city know a fire needed fighting. Someone manned the Guardian of the Gulch round the clock from 1876 to 1931. Many fire towers once existed in Helena, but this is the only one remaining.
